Paseo’s Preschool Registration Begins February 6

Registration for Paseo Pointe’s preschool begins on February 6 for the 2018-19 school year.

Paseo offers a Dual Language Immersion preschool in which students receive instruction in two languages. Paseo follows a 50/50 model in which participating students spend half of their day in a classroom where teaching and learning are done in English, while the other half of the day is done in Spanish. Students participating in the DLI preschool will continue with the immersion program as they transition through the grade levels at Paseo.

Preschool is tuition-based.

Paseo Pointe School offers Dual Language Immersion in Spanish in Grades Preschool-3.

Paseo Pointe’s Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program is based on a 50/50 model in which participating students spend half their day learning content in Spanish (math, science, Spanish) and the other half in English (math, language arts, social studies).

Students who learn a second language typically exceed the academic performance of their monolingual peers and are better prepared to engage in a global society.

This program will expand a grade level each year until the school is 100% DLI through the eighth grade. Preschool is tuition-based.

Rams Celebrate “Posadas at the Pointe”

Paseo Pointe families celebrated “Posadas at the Pointe” on December 20.

The roots of Las Posadas stretch deeply into Latin culture. It originated in Spain, but it has been a yearly celebration throughout Mexico for over 400 years. The tradition commemorates the biblical story of Mary and Joseph’s difficult journey in search of a warm place to stay the night. (Posadas is Spanish for “lodgings” or “accommodations.”) Posadas begin on December 16 and end nine days later, on December 24. Each night, one family agrees to house the festivities.

Paseo Pointe honored this tradition by providing nine activities for our families to enjoy. Activities included gingerbread house building, pinata and poinsettia crafts, luminarias, caroling, photos with Santa, food, and more!

Make a Donation to Laveen Schools Before April 15 and Receive a Credit on 2017’s Taxes

You can reduce the amount you owe in taxes by making a donation to Laveen schools through Arizona’s Public School Tax Credit Program. Tax credit contributions may only be used to support character education and fee-based extracurricular activities such as after-school tutoring and clubs, academic enrichment, field trips, fine art programs, and athletics.

For every dollar you donate, the amount you owe on your Arizona taxes will be that much less. This means you can reduce the amount you owe come the April deadline or increase the amount of your refund if you have tax liabilities for 2017. If you do not owe taxes, the amount you donate may be carried forward for up to five years to offset future tax liabilities. For example, if a single person owes $300 on their state taxes for 2017 and donates the maximum amount of $200, they will then only owe the state $100.

Couples filing jointly may donate any amount up to $400. Individuals may contribute up to $200.

The deadline to donate and claim a tax credit on your 2017 taxes is April 15, 2018.
